About the Cottage

Since closing as a village post office, The Old Corner Shop has undergone an extensive refurbishment, transforming it into a comfortable, stylish and attractive self-catering holiday home. The cottage has everything guests will need to enjoy a fun, relaxing break, including a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, freezer, electric oven and hob, microwave, slow cooker and an extractor fan, as well as a washing machine and tumble dryer. The lounge area provides a comfortable, cosy area for guests to relax and spend time together, with two settees, Sky TV. Free Wifi is available.

The cottage has a kingsize en-suite bedroom and a kingsize bedroom with an adjacent shower room, meaning the cottage can comfortably sleep four. The kingsize beds can be split into two single beds on request.

The décor of The Old Corner Shop is traditional and comfortable, with a modern kitchen and bathrooms. Warm, neutral tones throughout make it an ideal self-catering accommodation choice for anyone wishing to relax and enjoy their self-catering holiday. The view from the kitchen and lounge takes in the picturesque village church, while the bedrooms look out over the River Rhiew. An elevated view of the river can be enjoyed from the cottage’s rooftop sundeck, which is accessed through the landing. The patio area has a table and chairs for those wishing to enjoy al-fresco dining during the warm summer months.

The holiday cottage has electric central heating throughout, a guest safe and car parking. Secure storage can be arranged for bicycles or golf clubs on request. A high chair and travel cot are also available on request.

The Old Corner Shop is centrally located in the village, and is within easy reach of Mid Wales towns including Welshpool, Newtown and Montgomery. A bus route runs straight past the cottage, cycle route 81 runs through the village, and the Montgomeryshire Canal is roughly 500m away, meaning the cottage is an ideal base for walking and exploring the area. Storage for bicycles can be arranged. It is also within easy access of North Wales, including Llangollen, Snowdon and Bala, as well as the North & West Wales coasts.

Reviews

"We enjoyed a lovely week in this charming cottage in the heart of Berriew, the cottage was spotless and had everything we needed for our stay. Also the village had all the amenities needed on a daily basis, including two really friendly pubs!!!!! Heather (the owner) was great and has a really good knowledge of the local area, and she gives great prizes for trick or treating, thank you,"

"A comfortable and beautifully finished home from home, with many thoughtful touches to make our stay more enjoyable for 3 adults and a toddler. Wish we could have stayed for longer to enjoy beautiful Berriew too - an ideal location base to explore the area. Thank you Heather - we will be sure to visit again!!"
