Eating Out
The Old Corner Shop is ideally situated in Berriew, a busy Mid Wales village with a good selection of pubs, a deli and coffee shop and a local butchers shop.
The Lion Hotel www.lionhotel-berriew.co.uk and The Talbot Hotel www.talbot-hotel.com are both traditional coutry pubs in the village, so guests on self-catering holidays can enjoy traditional pub fare without having to venture far from the comfort of their holiday cottage. The Nags Head and The Horseshoes are both within a couple of miles of the self-catering cottage and can be reached by car or on foot via the picturesque Montgomery Canal, so you can combine a lovely walk along the canal towpath with a refreshing drink or meal.
For those wanting a light snack, morning coffee or afternoon tea, the Lychgate Cottage deli and tearoom offers homemade cakes, sandwiches and baguettes.
If you want to venture out of Berriew and explore the country, there is a wealth of traditional country pubs offering excellent pub food all over Mid Wales, so you can combine a satisfying pub meal with an exciting day out seeing the sights of Mid Wales. Heather, who runs The Old Corner Shop and has lived in the area all her life has a great deal of local knowledge, and can offer genuine information and advice about places to eat out.
The Old Corner Shop has a modern, fully equipped kitchen so self-catering guests can enjoy the comforts of home cooking in their holiday cottage if they wish. Berriew has a village shop and an award winning local Butcher's shop, and there are several supermarkets nearby.
